Educating girls and women are not given importance in almost all orthodox, patriarchal families. We should understand that when a girl becomes educated, she educates the entire family behind her. So, education to women is education to family. Nowadays, importance is given to women education by all nations in order to make women privileged.
Education is the means through which women can obtain equal rights as men, both in their families and society. Education will also make women stand in their own feet, thus leaving economic dependency on men. Besides improving the social status of women, education makes women believe in themselves and makes them self-confident. They start taking all decisions by themselves and trust the fact that they possess the ability to make right choices and decisions in life.
As already mentioned before, education to a girl or woman is education to her family. If all girls in our society are given proper education, they will ultimately educate their families. If all families become educated, the whole society will get educated. If all societies become educated, the entire nation gets educated. Therefore, educating women is essential for the socio-economic development of a nation. Eradicating women illiteracy is a desirable step which every nation should take for their overall development.
Women education decreases the rate of child marriage. It also diminishes the rate of female foeticide.
Our honourable Prime Minister has launched a programme named 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', which emphasizes on educating girls and women.
